We will be closed on Saturdays for the month of August
“The new genoa is wonderful…….. The acceleration in the puffs was incredible compared to my old sail. We sailed on average 0.3-0.4 knots faster upwind while pointing higher as well. Look forward to passing more boats yet while cruising as well. Some envious looks tonight while racing. We’ll be sure to share the source of our “secret weapon”
Mike Albert, Annapolis, MD
Clarke Bassett established Kappa Sails in Westbrook, CT in 1996 and has been making premium sails for cruising and racing sailors ever since.
Clarke has over 30 years experience designing and building quality sails for customers across the country and beyond.
In 1987 Clarke sailed with and designed sails for Dennis Conner and the America’s Cup ....
Kappa Sails relies on three things for success:
1) The best fabrics and materials
2) Innovative design
3) An uncompromising commitment to superior craftsmanship
At Kappa Sails we firmly believe that with these three elements, along with our pride and our good old fashion hard work, there is not a better place to buy and repair your sails.
When decision time comes to choose a sail consider American made sails that offer a difference from the others.
Our racing sails: The patented Kappa Cut Genoa and Kappa Cut Mainsail are made from light weight, reinforced laminants that offer improved elongation resistance, excellent diagonal stability, highly resistant surfaces, UV stabilization and mildew protection. Plus the Kappa Symmetrical Spinnaker is fast from 65° to 180°!
Our performance cruising sails comprise a reefable genoa that safely and effectively reefs from a 150% genoa to a storm jib. Our Performance Dacron or Pentex Mainsail reduces weather helm by opening the leech resulting from the rotated threadline.
Our Cruising spinnaker is broad-shouldered yet reaches to 65° apparent.
Ask about our UP-WIND SPINNAKER (you heard it right!) – an innovative Kappa only design.
